Nutrition & Immune Health

Good nutrition plays an important role to achieve optimum immune health. Foods provide crucial nutrients to support and enhance our immune system. Those who are undernourished, are at greater risk of infections, but on the other hand, excessive energy intake is not good as well, because it will compromise immune system’s ability to fight infection and leads to obesity consequently. Here are some worthy points to take note:

TAKE:
Complex carbs, i.e wholemeal bread, brown rice, oatmeal, and bran cereals
Colorful fruits and vegetables with dark green leaf (spinach, kai-lan), broccoli, and cabbage
Protein contained foods that are low in fats such as lean meat, i.e fish, breast chicken meat, and lean red meat, nuts, tofu, beans, and soy products
Good type of fats, i.e from walnuts, pumpkin seeds, and olive oil

AVOID / TAKE LESS:
Sugar, candy, soft drinks, pastries, doughnut, white bread, cakes, pies, and other desserts as they serve as food for the disease-causing bacteria and fungus
High fat foods, i.e fast foods and processed foods, i.e bacon, sausages, and luncheon meat. Remove chicken’s skin and trimmed off the fats from the meat
